Lucia is very outgoing, sweet, funny, sassy, smart and brave. She loves to sing and dance, to model princess dresses and other “fashionable” clothes as she calls them. Like girls her age (4), she loves barbies, shopkins and disney princesses.
Her symptoms started with bruises on her knees and legs, it was more than usual. Then her lips were bleeding/really chapped and she would wake up with dried blood. A high fever made me take her to the ER. She was diagnosed on January 1st, 2018.
We are currently in Consolidation Phase of treatment. We were at the hospital for almost a month having daily infusions during induction. Now we go Monday through Friday every other month.
Having to take Lucia to the clinic is not easy. We also have a 2 year old daughter who was away from us for almost 2 months. Cancer affects everyone. I took a month off from work and the past 2 months I have been working remote: hospital, clinic, home, etc. My husband took two months off from work as well. But we are in a “better” situation now, thank God.
