Gracin is an old soul. He is gracious, sensitive, outgoing, fun, and loves to just be a kid. He loves cars, sports, animals, his hair styled, and video games. He is a fashionista in his own right and is a natural interrogator of life. He’s truly a wonder.
Gracin is very aware and inquisitive of his body and how treatment affects him. He is the greatest example of how to be a good patient and move on courageously to the next moment.
Gracin was diagnosed with leukemia in March of 2018. He had shown signs of concern for two years prior. He had inflamed nodules that grew from 1, to 2, to 3 were raised on the side of his neck but doctors said they would go away. He also would complain for several days of body aches and pains following incidents from recess at school. We always thought he was going through growth spurts.
Our family is forced to live in the moment as each day can be different depending on who is sick in the home. He goes between two homes- mine and his mothers- so helping him feel comfortable between medical visits and the back and forth had been more challenging. Emotionally, financially, and physically, yes this experience has touched it all and made us grow immensely. We have persevered and learned to love more in all the precious moments we have.
