Claire was diagnosed on September 12, 2011 with high risk acute lymphoblastic leukemia. She is currently receiving long term maintenance chemo, which will be complete in January 2014. During the course of this past 1.5 years, Claire has also developed type 1 diabetes. She is being treated at children’s national medical center, Washington D.C. She is the toughest fighter i know as she battles cancer and diabetes. She has returned to her travel soccer team (which her father and i coach). The past August she suffered multiple sprains in her right foot/ankle, and because of deteriorated bone density, the heal time was very long but she went through physical therapy, and every game she plays is a victory for her!!
